It was a pretty hot day in June 2023, and I was in search of a parking spot in a chic, eclectic area of Dallas. The air was gently stirring, the sun was in its full splendor, and I was excited to meet the women from Avocados from Mexico. That day, I had the honor of facilitating a workshop for their Female Leadership Initiative.
Since all workshops are rather personal, I won't divulge any of the details, but I thought it would be worthwhile to share some of the quotes I incorporated into my materials. These quotes underscore some of the themes of building wealth and the straightforward strategies to consider.
Within the program, I say that wealth strategies might seem simple, but that doesn't imply they're easy to execute. Often, the solutions are not overly technical; rather, they demand considerable emotional fortitude.
Quotes
"I think every woman should have financial independence, but... it's not just for the money. It's for the security and the power that comes with it." - Reba McEntire
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos once asked Warren Buffett: "You're the second richest guy in the world. Your investment thesis is so simple. Why don't more people just copy you?"
To which Buffett replied, "Because nobody wants to get rich slowly."
"If there is one common theme to the vast range of the world’s financial crises, it is that excessive debt accumulation, whether by the government, banks, corporations, or consumers, often poses greater systemic risks than it seems during a boom." — Carmen Reinhart
"If investors do not know or never attempt to know the fair value, they can pay any price. More often, the price they pay is far greater than the actual value.” ― Naved Abdali
I hope you'll find value in these quotes. To me, they are powerful reminders of the financial principles that can generate wealth and economic value.
